Beetroot is valued by experts as a generally strengthening and appetite-stimulating vegetable. In addition, it promotes the secretion of bile. The high iron content supports blood formation and has a positive effect on respiration. Beetroot is therefore also used as a preventive against respiratory infections and to strengthen the immune system. Beetroot is related to sugar beet and chard. Due to its high vitamin B, potassium, iron and especially folic acid content, beetroot is very healthy. It also colours faeces and urine a little reddish.
